Ravenswood Vintners Blend Zinfandel, California 2008
23 February 2012

A big, bold, fruit driven wine.  Full aromas of plum, spice and red and dark berries come together to create a generous fruit cake nose.  Continuing on through the palate are flavours of plum and spice, a little milk chocolate, and sweet vanilla.  This is a wine with medium to full weight and a generous finish - would match well with barbecued meats, or make a lovely contrast to strong cheeses.  It's all about the fruit!

Santa Christina Campogrande Orvieto 2009
21 February 2012

Orivieto is a DOC region in Umbria known for crisp dry whites made mostly from Grechetto and Trebbiano.  On the nose fresh, sweet aromas of honeysuckle, green apple and apricot make up the delicate bouquet.  The palate is dry with a slight waxy texture.  Flavours of melon and apple carry through and finish with fresh persistence.  A great alternative to New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris!

Camino Real Carmenere 2007
20 February 2012

Deep brick red in colour.  On the nose savoury notes of green capsicum, black fruits and a touch of coffee link with a subtle mineral element.  The palate is dry and savoury, showing good concentration however, with rich blackberry and blueberry flavours providing lovely round mouthfeel and medium length.  Integrated, supple tannins. Great value!

Craggy Range Riesling 2011
18 February 2012

This beauty is a single vineyard release from the renown winery Craggy Range.  The fruit is 100% sourced from their Te Muna Road vineyard in Martinborough.

The riesling is all hand picked into small containers (so as not to damage the fruit), whole bunch pressed, cold fermented and crafted to an attractive off-dry style.

An abundance of complex flavours, ranging from ripe stone fruit, delicate red citrus, rose petal and soft floral complexion.  A balanced acidity leaves a clean finish in the mouth and offsets the slightly honeyed nose.

Woop Woop Shiraz 2010
15 February 2012

A classic.....on the nose intense aromas of plum, berry-fruits and spice burst from the glass.  The palate is dry yet fruity displaying rich red fruits, with a good dose of vanilla and spice to round it out. Finishing on a dry, savoury note this is a wine that embodies all that one expects from a good Aussie Shriaz!

Scanavino Prosecco, Veneto, Italy
14 February 2012

Prosecco (sparkling wine from the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions of northern Italy) up until the 1960's was generally a sweeter sparkling wine.  The Prosecco wines that we now know and love today are far from the sweet, grapey styles of the past.  On the nose the wine has delicate aromas of blossom, apples and a rich bready note.  The palate is dry with a hint of minerality, subtle crisp fruit salad flavours and elegant fizz. Perfect on its own or mixed with peach puree as a Bellini Cocktail.

4 Stars - Winestate Magazine.  Made from a blend of Bordeaux varieties and Chambourcin, the nose exudes an array of berry fruit aromas and alluring spices.  The palate is full flavoured and dry showing blackberry, cherry and spice through the medium to long finish.  A lovely summer Rose, perfect for your Valentine!
