Rose

There are many different styles and flavours to Rose wine.  This is because a Rose can be made from any red grape varietal or blend of varietals and thus takes on a lot of the same characteristics of its red wine counterpart.

Askerne Rose 2011

Who doesn't love a picnic in the Botanic Gardens?! This Rose is just the thing to take along. A crisp and fresh palate of ripe red berry fruits, finishing with a touch of sweet raspberry. Great summer drinking!

Chateau de la Pregentiere Rose (Provence)

A light pink, almost apricot in the glass, this wine is very pretty right from the start. Light juicy fruit and rose petals abound and lead to a dry finish. Dangerously drinkable!

Clearview Black Reef Blush 2010

Dark, dusky pink colour, this sought-after Rose is made from Chambourcin and Bordeaux varietals. Spicy and fruity on the nose, this dry wine has enough weight to satisfy beyond the summer months and match well with food.

Clearview Estate 'Black Reef Blush' 2011

4 Stars - Winestate Magazine.  Made from a blend of Bordeaux varieties and Chambourcin, the nose exudes an array of berry fruit aromas and alluring spices.  The palate is full flavoured and dry showing blackberry, cherry and spice through the medium to long finish.  A lovely summer Rose, perfect for your Valentine!

Domaine Houchart Rose 2010

Oh la la! There's something about Rose from Provence that makes everything seem better. Pretty and pink, this is dry, crisp and refreshing, and all about strawberries and watermelon. Very tasty.

Georges Michel Pinot Rose "Summer Folly" 2009

Albeit a little tentatively, I have noticed the sun and have decided to put this wee Rose on tasting. We deserve it! Lovely strawberry, red currant and crab apple aromas are on the nose - a touch of spring blossoms too I believe! In the mouth, this delightful Pinot Noir rose is reminiscent of a spicy home-made strawberry jam. There is good acidity to balance the fruit sweetness, as well as a bit of pepper and 'kick' on the finish.

Hawkes Ridge Rose 09

Richly coloured, fuller style of Rose here, made by a hyperactive winemaker who likes his wine big! Raspberries on the nose, rich on the palate and with a pleasingly dry finish, this is perfect for a day like today!

Plenty of bright berry fruit, and a nice balance between fruit sweetness and the spiciness of the palate. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the sun!

McBride-Sillig Franc Rose 2010

Pretty pale salmon colour, this Rose has a spicy character that lifts the strawberry fruit and biscuitty notes. On the palate it shows more tannic profile than typical of Rose, dry spice and berry fruit. Versatile as a food wine.
